Alex Smith is released from the Washington Football Team

After making NFL history in 2020, moving everyone with his return to the lawns after a leg problem that nearly took his life, Alex Smith bids farewell to the Washington Football Team, according to information from the NFL Network. Neither the Comeback Player of the Year award nor the fact that he guided WFT to the playoffs made the American capital team consider keeping Smith in charge of the attack.

Alex Smith played six games as a starter in 2020, winning five games and suffering just one loss. The quarterback went for 1582 yards, six touchdowns and eight interceptions. Despite returning to the field, Alex Smith suffered from injuries during the year, losing some games due to muscle problems, including being out of the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in the post-season.

Smith’s layoff will open up just over $13.4 million of salary cap space for the Washington Football Team. On the other hand, the drama in the quarterback position persists.
