5 things to know about the Lacoste Ladies Open de France

The 31st edition

This 2021 edition will mark the 31st year of existence of the Ladies French Open. The very first was contested in 1897 in Fourqueux. Since then, 4 French women have won there, Marie-Laure de Lorenzi winner in 1988, 1993, 1995, Patricia Meunier-Lebouc in 2000, Stephanie Arricau in 2004 and Céline Herbin in 2015.

22 French women involved

They will be 22 tricolors to start this Thursday in this French Open. Among them, some regulars like Céline Boutier or Céline Herbin, titled in 2015 at Chantaco and 2nd last year, but also young hopefuls like Pauline Roussin-Bouchard, who should once again be very popular this week, or Agathe Laisné, turned pro just a few weeks ago.

This 2021 edition of the Lacoste Ladies Open de France will be the fourth and last reception of the tournament by the Médoc golf course. The host of the next edition has not yet been announced but the tournament, which has become used since 2012 to be played in the South West, could now be invited to other regions.

Céline Herbin is the last Frenchwoman to win the French Open. It was in 2015 in Chantaco.
