The tweet was posted on the same day that the new part of the basketball video game franchise, NBA 2K22, was released. NBA 2K was originally developed by Sega Sports in 1999 with annual rates until 2004. After the sale and establishment of 2K Sports, annual publications continued under its new editor. The 22nd episode of the popular basketball video game features Luka Dončić of the Dallas Mavericks on the cover.
The PS5, the current generation of PlayStation, continues to be in high demand after its launch last year. Although the PS5 debuted in November 2020, the console is still difficult to come by due to a break in production of parts and scalpers that are reselling the devices at higher prices. The PlayStation itself is made of 24-karat gold and the brand boasts an estimated retail value of $ 10,407.
The winner will be notified on September 16, 2021 and has five days to claim their grand prize. The NBA 2K tweet had over 10,000 responses by the end of the sweepstakes. As part of promoting the new game, NBA 2K’s Twitter offered other potential items to be won during the game’s launch day. Copies of the new game, virtual currency and special editions were up for grabs, proving that the gold PS5 isn’t the only eye-catching prize. The Twitter account even gave away signed jerseys from players like Shaq and Kobe Bryant, extremely valuable items that are not normally given away by a gaming company.
NBA 2K22 was released worldwide on September 10, 2021, on the NBA 2K Twitter account called “2K Day”. Players can experience newly added features like 17 new badges and a new shot display. One lucky gamer will be able to experience these features with a gold PS5.
