2. Bundesliga: Schalke lose, Nuremberg wins

NAfter a goalkeeping mistake by Ralf Fährmann and being outnumbered, Bundesliga relegated FC Schalke 04 suffered another setback. The team of coach Dimitrios Grammozis loses 1: 2 (1: 1) against Karlsruher SC.

The decisive moment in the game was the controversial red card against Schalke’s captain Victor Palsson for a rough game (72nd minute). In the final phase, KSC captain Marvin Wanitzek (88th) made a dream goal from a distance that was untenable for the ferryman for the first victory for Baden since the end of July.

150th Goal for Terodde

Ferryman had previously blundered early and directed the direct purchase of Kyoung-Rok Choi into his own network after a corner (1.). After the eighth goal in the seventh game by striker Simon Terodde (15th), Schalke hoped in vain to make it into the top flight of the second division. With ten points from seven games, the Revierclub initially falls back into the middle of the table. The KSC now jumps to third place, at least for one evening, with two points more.

For Terodde, who came from Hamburger SV before the season, it was the 150th goal in the lower house. He drew level with the former Fortuna Cologne striker Karl-Heinz Mödrath. Until the current record holder Dieter Schatzschneider, Terodde is still missing three more goals. Nevertheless, Schalke could not achieve anything countable. The reason for this was, among other things, the dismissal for Palsson. The Icelander jumped into Wanitzek’s legs with a run-up from behind, but hit the KSC captain only lightly.

Victory for Nürnberg thanks to a substitution

After a joker goal from youngster Eric Shuranov, 1. FC Nürnberg jumped to a promotion place, at least for the time being. In the arduous 1-0 (0-0) triumph over promoted Hansa Rostock, “Club” trainer Robert Klauss had a lucky hand on Friday evening.
