Vincent Kompany to receive a statue at Manchester City on Saturday

A statue of Vincent Kompany will be unveiled at Manchester City’s stadium on Saturday.

In addition to Vincent Kompany, David Silva will also receive a statue. They will be unveiled at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday before the game against Arsenal. A picture of Sergio Aguero will follow later this year.

The club wants to recognize the three players for their ‘unparalleled contribution to the transformation of the club’. “These artworks will give us and generations to come the opportunity to relive the magical moments of both men,” said club president Khaldoon Al Mubarak.

The statues were created by sculptor Andy Scott. Due to the pandemic, he only met Kompany and Silva virtually.

Kompany was captain of Manchester City for many years and won more than ten trophies with City, including four Premier League times. One of his finest moments was the winning goal against Leicester City, which led City to a consecutive Premier League title. Kompany became a club icon in Manchester.
