ISERNIA. We still talk about her as an emblem of self-denial and courage. Guest of the Rai program Unomattina Estate the young athlete from Isernina Maria Centracchio, bronze in judo at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics and, more and more, Molise pride.

On the occasion of the opening today, August 24, of the Paralympics, the judoka pentra talked about her experience of resilience and success on TV: from the physical obstacles of the last four years, which began in 2017 with a “very complicated” elbow operation, it consisted in the reconstruction of the tendon and ligaments, which “took her away from the tatami for almost a year”; subsequent injuries, such as meniscus surgery and fractured ribs; until the success at the Olympics.

“Overcoming obstacles – said the humble athlete – gave me the push to get to where I am”. And his is a story of revenge and hope for everyone. The story of a champion not only from a sporting point of view, but also from a human point of view.
