Tokyo-D10 Olympic Games: two South Korean badminton teams will compete for bronze, a gymnast will jump for gold

TOKYO, Aug. 02 (Yonhap) – South Korea will take part in the Tokyo Olympics on Monday with a bronze medal already won in the women’s doubles event in badminton. It remains to be seen who will win the medal.

Two South Korean doubles teams will face off in the third place match at Musashino Forest Sport Plaza in Tokyo, Lee So-hee and Shin Seung-chan against Kim So-yeong and Kong Hee-yong.

They both lost their semi-final match on Saturday, creating an all-Korean duel for bronze. It will be the only badminton medal for South Korea in Tokyo.

Also on Monday, artistic gymnast Shin Jea-hwan will compete in the men’s vault final at the Ariake Gymnastics Center. He will try to become the second South Korean, after Yang Hak-seon in 2012, to win an Olympic gold medal in the men’s vault.

The women’s volleyball team will play their final group match against Serbia on Monday at the Ariake Arena. For their part, the women’s handball team will face Angola in the final Group A match at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium. The top four of the six in the group will advance to the quarter-finals.
