Slashes gold, which is won by the Israeli Artem Dolgopyat, but adds the sixth Spanish medal in Tokyo

The Spanish Ray Zapata won the silver medal this Sunday in the floor final of the Tokyo Olympic Games. Tied on points with the winner, Israeli Artem Dolgopyat, Zapata has stayed very close to gold. The bronze went to the Chinese Xiao Ruoteng.

Ray Zapata, born in the Dominican Republic in 1993 and nationalized Spanish, thus removes the thorn that he had nailed from Rio, when he was on the verge of qualifying for the final. On this occasion, what he brushed against his fingertips was gold, as he achieved the same score as Dolgopyat. But the judges have given him 0.1 points more in the difficulty that they have taken the first place from Zapata.

It is the first medal for Spanish artistic gymnastics since Gervasio Deferr took silver, also on the ground, at the 2008 Beijing Games.
