The third was not the charm: Midón lost the final of the J2 in Guadalajara

In the third final that he played in the year, the tennis player from Corrientes Lautaro Midón (17 years old) could not claim victory either. In the decisive match of the J2 of Guadalajara (Mexico), he fell to the local representative Rodrigo Pacheco Méndez 6-2, 5-7 and 1-6.

It should be remembered that Midón, who is currently ranked 106th in the ITF ranking, last July played the J3 in Santo Domingo and J3 in Bogotá finals and lost both. In the Dominican contest, he fell in the final against the Bolivian Juan Carlos Prado Angelo in three sets (3-6, 6-4 and 5-7). While in Colombia his executioner was the local Enrique Pena, who defeated him 6-1 and 6-2.

The only coronation with the account the young man from Corrientes dates from November of last year when he won the J5 in San José, Costa Rica. There he beat American Sebastián Sec 6-2 and 6-4.

The capital, who will advance important places in the ITF ranking when it is updated this week, ranking among the 100 best in the category, was not 100% of his physical condition in the final of the J2 in Guadalajara. He played the entire second and third set contractured. That prevented him from performing better.

In the Mexican competition, which took place on clay courts, Midón’s path to the final was with triumphs against Javier Ernesto Aranda Álvarez (Mexico), Jayson Mbogoro (Great Britain), Adrián Contreras (Mexico) and Yannik Rahman (United States).

Lautaro Midón will continue with his schedule of activities next week in the United States, more precisely in Prince George’s County, Maryland. There he will compete at J1 College Park.

After facing three tournaments on brick dust surfaces, the Corrientes switched to cement. In the US tournament, in the first round, he will face local representative Preston Stearns.

The winner of this match, in the next round, will be measured against the winner of the match to be played by Ecuadorian Alvaro Guillen Meza, eleventh seed, and American Ekansh Kumar.
