For many supporters of Juventus, a departure from Ronaldo would be the worst case, but for ex-President Cobolli it would be a blessing.

Giovanni Cobolli Gigli, former president of the Italian record champions Juventus Turin, has clearly spoken out in favor of selling superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. Opposite to SerieANews he said the Portuguese was preventing the Bianconeri from being successful.

“I was always honest: It was a mistake to sign Ronaldo. It is impossible to get this investment back and it will stay that way,” said Cobolli, referring initially to the transfer fee paid (119 million euros) and that extremely high annual salary (31 million euros) for the now 36-year-old.

But Juventus is also better in terms of play without the CR7, said the ex-president: “I hope Allegri knows how he should use him in the future. Just as he did against Udinese. Intelligently and when the game is already on.”

Cobolli Gigli: “Ronaldo hinders Juventus’ attacking game”

CR7 did not start in Udine and was only substituted in during the second half, which Cobolli advocated: “Ronaldo hinders Juventus’ attacking game. Without that, they are able to do excellent things as a collective.”

The 76-year-old drew a tough conclusion: “He’s a great player, but to be honest: the sooner he leaves, the better for him and Juventus.”

This summer there were numerous rumors about Ronaldo’s departure from Turin. A few days ago, coach Allegri publicly put a stop to speculation, the Portuguese defended himself on his social media platforms and demanded more respect for himself. In doing so, however, he avoided making a clear commitment to Juventus.
