Liverpool started the 2021/2022 Premier League satisfactorily. Against promoted Norwich City, the Reds won three goals without reply.

In the match at Carrow Road, Saturday (14/8/2021) night WIB, Liverpool faced resistance from Norwich who balanced possession of the ball 50:50. However, Liverpool is more deadly because it can make three goals from eight opportunities on target.

Diogo Jota opened the scoring in the first half before being perfected by Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah in the second half. This victory makes Liverpool temporarily in third place standings with three points.

Liverpool did surprise the line-up when Fabinho was substituted and fielded trio of James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain. In front of Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane were installed.

Liverpool had a hard time early on as Norwich took the initiative to attack with long balls into their defence. However, Liverpool had their first chance in the 11th minute through Diogo Jota’s header continuing Trent Alexander-Arnold’s crossing, but the ball was pushed over by Tim Krul.

In the 18th minute, it was Salah’s turn who had a chance to score but his shot was caught by Krul. Norwich was not without a chance when Teemu Pukki threatened Alisson’s goal in the 20th minute.

Pukki found space and fired home from a tight angle, which Alisson saved. In the 23rd minute, Sadio Mane snatched the ball from Puuki and immediately sent a cross to the right. There was Salah who responded with a left-footed volley, but the ball went wide.

Liverpool finally broke the deadlock in the 26th minute. Trent crossed the right side of the field and sent a pass to Salah. The ball was not perfectly controlled by Salah and slipped away, before being grabbed by Jota with his right foot for a goal.

The goal made Liverpool even more excited to add another goal. In the 34th minute, Salah’s volley hit a Norwich defender and Matip picked up the ball. Before Matip had time to execute, the ball was immediately dumped by Lees-Melou.

Until halftime, Liverpool still lead 1-0 over Norwich.
