The Knicks let Frank Ntilikina slip away… what’s next?

The New York Knicks have officially abandoned the project Frank Ntilikina. The French, drafted in eighth position in 2017, is now free to sign wherever he sees fit. Manhattan franchise having given up rights to the combo guard trained in GIS.

This is the opportunity for the recent Olympic medalist to make a fresh start. Maybe in the NBA, if he ever finds a team ready to revive him. Or rather launch it. Because he ultimately won’t have shown much in four seasons in the league.

Ntilikina, 23, compiled 5 points and 2.7 assists in 211 matches. With too little offensive progress to really find a place in New York. It is not all his fault. He didn’t often have his chance and was forced to juggle injuries. The Knicks are also not known for their ability to develop young players.

It’s a shame, because the native of Ixelles (Belgium) has talent and an interesting potential. He is notably an excellent defender who could give a helping hand to many organizations if he was given regular playing time to really have a chance to evolve.

We would not be surprised if a formation tries the blow. At least for a season. It would then be up to Frank Ntilikina not to miss this opportunity.
