Port-au-Prince, August 15, 2021: Bad news for the Haitian Judo delegation which has just missed the qualifiers for the Pan-American Junior Games qualifying for the final phase of the Panam Junior Games, Cali 2021, which will take place from September 9 to 19 in Colombian soil, because of visa refusal.

The Haitian Judo delegation which should take part in the qualifiers for the Cali 2021 Games which began on August 14, 2021, was eliminated for not being able to participate. Indeed, out of all 7 qualifying competitions, for lack of economic resources, the Federation chose those which were the most favorable to it, including the Punta Cana Games where the athlete Jennifer Meli Étienne won a silver medal being as vice champion, totaling 120 pts and ranked 4th out of 7 Athletes.

However, after missing the qualifying tournament in Ecuador for lack of economic resources, Jennifer Meli Étienne, demoted to 7th position, again missed the Junior Pan American Games for refusal of a visa at the Colombian Embassy. Haitian Judo will not be present at the Junior Pan American Games from September 9 to 19 (Cali 2021, Colombia).

According to the President of this federation, Wilmailler Chery, these two missed competitions will have an impact on the qualification of Haitian Judo. “We missed two competitions which put our chance of qualifying for the Cali 2021 games at risk. After all the efforts and efforts, the athletes did not have the chance to validly represent the country due to a visa problem”, said the President, reached on the phone.

The Haitian delegation headed by the President, Wilmailler Chery, Head of Delegation, Coach Mentor FRANTO and the athlete Etienne Meli Jennifer (-52 kg), who already has a quota of 100 points being in 140th place in the world ranking, unfortunately did not visit Colombia.
