Saints lose their Will Lutz kicker to injury

The New Orleans franchise is going to have to find a new kicker after an injury worsens for Will Lutz.

The player himself posted the news on Twitter.

“Unfortunately, I found out that my training camp was going to be cut short due to an injury that gradually got worse. After talking to our excellent medical staff and coaches, as well as a second opinion from a specialist, we decided that it was in our best interests to fix this now to miss as many games as possible. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers! I love football so quitting isn’t going to be easy, but I can’t wait to start rehab and get back fitter and stronger than ever to help this team win! WHODAT! “

While the nature of the injury and the length of his downtime are not yet known, the Pro-Bowler should miss the start of the season but be able to return later, according to ESPN sources.

According to Nick Underhill (NewOrleans.Football), the Saints will be testing kickers on Monday. It is nevertheless a significant loss for the Saints, since Will Lutz is one of the most reliable kickers in the league (86.6% of successful career fields).
