Rhône. 112 tennis players at the Open Savignois

The 2021 edition of the Open Savignois, a tournament organized by the eponymous tennis club, was held from June 17 to July 18. The competition had not been organized since 2019, due to the health situation. This year, the organizers have worked hard to ensure that it can take place, despite great uncertainty and the health restrictions still in force. Usually organized between the end of May and the end of June, the tournament had to be postponed twice, in order to allow it to be held in satisfactory conditions.

112 players attended. They were divided into three tables: senior men’s singles, senior ladies’ singles and men’s 45 (over 45) singles. Although the weather did not make it easy for the organizers, the finals were held last weekend, split between Saturday and Sunday.

The senior men’s final saw Rémi Counil (4/6 – Tennis club de Riorges) triumph against Julien Sellier (5/6 – Tennis club de Charbonnières). In the senior ladies, Marine Franchino (15/5) beat Patricia De Saint Jean (30/1), in a 100% Sourcieux-les-Mines final. Finally, François-Xavier Meyer (15/4 – Tennis club de Charbonnières) defeated Marc Ballu (30/1 – Association tennis Lacenas Arnas) in the men’s 45.
