Real Madrid continues to shield itself against a possible ‘vendetta’ by Paris Saint-Germain for the probable signing of Kylian Mbappé by the whites. The Chamartín club announced this Friday the renewal of Carlos Henrique Casemiro until 2025, which means that if he fulfilled his contract in full, his relationship with 33 years would end.

Florentino Pérez thus ties one of the fundamental pillars on which the Real Madrid project is based. The Brazilian midfielder, who arrived in the Spanish capital in 2013 without making a sound, has become an indispensable piece in the gear of Real Madrid, a club with which he has won fourteen titles in eight seasons: four Champions League, three Club World Cups, two European Super Cups, two Leagues, a King’s Cup and two Spanish Super Cups. He has played 288 games with the merengue jacket in which he has scored 30 goals. But, above all, it has become their main support in the wide area of the field, assuming the function of providing balance to a midfield with a net offensive profile.

His partnership with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos is already football history. The trident of midfielders was decisive in the royal cycle that led the Whites to win three consecutive Champions League, a milestone unparalleled since the establishment of the current format of the competition. A starter in the finals in Milan, Cardiff (where he sealed the second of goals in the victory against Juventus by 1-4) and Kiev, the São Paulo player has been rising in the ranks of the whites, being today one of the leaders of the locker room.

Coveted figure

His performance has exceeded all expectations that existed when Real Madrid recruited him at the end of 2013 from Sao Paulo. He had been one of the members of the Brazilian U-20 team that was proclaimed the 2011 South American champion and had already made his senior debut, but a series of problems due to his lack of maturity at that time led him to lose weight in his club. Hence, Real Madrid achieved an operation that, over time, has been enormously advantageous. The whites obtained an assignment with a purchase option for six million euros that they ended up executing.

He began his career with Castilla, although in the 2013-14 season he already made his debut with the Real Madrid first team in a match against Betis in which the Whites won 3-1. José Mourinho was in charge of giving him the alternative. He failed to settle with Carlo Ancelotti, despite the fact that his appearance on the field in a Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund was capital for Real Madrid to solve that tie that put the cross on Asier Illarramendi, on the way to the Lisbon final. He left on loan in the summer of 2014 to Porto, where he confirmed that he was ready for larger companies. Rafa Benítez, then Real Madrid coach, requested his return in the summer of 2015 and from then on he began to build his history.

He ended up consolidating with Zinedine Zidane after a derby against Atlético in which the rojiblancos exposed the deficiencies of a Real Madrid midfield in which a correction factor was missing. Casemiro waited for his turn on the bench that day and the Marseillais took note. From that moment on he was untouchable.

Today Casemiro, captain of the Brazilian team, is the Real Madrid footballer with the highest market valuation. The specialized website Transfermarkt rates it at 70 million euros and the club has repeatedly rejected the siren songs that came from other greats in Europe, including PSG. His renewal is added to those of Fede Valverde (2027), Karim Benzema (2023), Lucas Vázquez (2024), Nacho Fernández (2023), Dani Carvajal (2025), Luka Modric (2022) and Thibaut Courtois (2026).
