Puribec League: victories for Rivière-du-Loup, Trois-Pistoles and Rimouski

Close match to the advantage of Bérubé GM

In a low-scoring duel, Bérubé GM from Trois-Pistoles was able to limit the damage in the seventh round to win 4-2 against Escaladeurs Ras L’Bock de La Pocatière. After taking a 4-0 lead at the end of the fifth set, Bérubé GM saw his opponent score two points in the seventh and final set. The La Pocatière players, however, were unable to complete the comeback.

Stéphane Pouliot notably produced two points in the victory. Bérubé GM’s starting pitcher, Simon Rousseau, was brilliant, he who did not allow a run, in addition to conceding just two hits, in just over four innings pitched. The reliever Andy St-Gelais completed the job. In the loss, pitcher Martin Bossé conceded eight hits in five innings pitched.

The Shaker has the upper hand over the Braves

The Braves Batitech of Témiscouata also attempted a late comeback in the seventh round, without success, against the Shaker of Rimouski. Led 7-4 in the first six innings, the Braves scored two runs in the seventh inning, but ended up short.

The Shaker notably benefited from a productive second set, scoring four points. The victory goes to the record of Philippe Seyer-Lamontagne, who allowed four runs and six hits in five innings pitched. Among the Braves, Félix Castonguay started the game on the mound and allowed five runs in just over three innings before being replaced by Christopher Landry.

Only three players didn’t get a hit for the Shaker. In the loss, Samuel Pearson produced two hits and produced two runs.

The fifth round smiles at CIEL-FM

With a tie of 2-2 before starting the fifth round, the CIEL-FM of Rivière-du-Loup produced four points to go for victory, against the Cataractes of Grand-Sault. Félix-Antoine Trudel pitched his own seven innings, en route to victory. He conceded six hits to his opponents.

All CIEL-FM players collected at least one hit in the duel, except pitcher Trudel. Frédéric Tardif notably produced two points. Jordan Drier pitched five innings in the loss, allowing all six runs.

The playoffs continue this evening as the Bérubé GM will travel to La Pocatière for the second game of the series between them and the Escaladeurs.
