Philip Rivers does not rule out a return to the NFL

Following the elimination of the Colts in the wild card round of the 2020 playoffs, Philip Rivers announced his retirement. Eight months after the decision and practically a month after the start of the regular season, the pin is running for a return.

In an interview for him Los Angeles Times, the 39-year-old former quarterback indicated that leaves the door open to the possibility of rejoining the NFL. He added that any possible return must be made under favorable conditions.

“I will stay ready. I want to make something clear: I do not predict that I will play in December or January. First, there must be someone interested; two, it has to be the right thing to do. But I haven’t completely ruled it out“he explained.

Rivers’ words are given a few days after the Colts lost to Carson Wentz for a period ranging from five to 12 weeks for a foot injury. The North Carolina State product played his last season as a professional at Indianapolis and passed for 4,169 yards and 24 touchdowns.

Sinuous road

However, a possible return to Lucas Oil Stadium has its main obstacle in Chicago. Recently Nick Foles (third QB on the Bears) gave hints of wanting to play again for Frank Reich (They shared a dressing room in Philadelphia during 2017).

Another reason that complicates his return to the field is his physical condition. The passer himself acknowledged that He has started training to regain the form he had for 17 years as a professional.

I am not in shape. I’m working on that. He would not have given the weight if he had to report last week. But I have returned to lifting weights, running and occasionally threw the ball, “he said.
