Paula Badosa won this Monday the Swiss Viktorija Golubic in two sets in the first round of the WTA 1,000 tournament in Montreal (Canada).
Badosa, number 31 in the WTA rankings, beat Golubic, number 47 in the world, 6-2, 6-3 in 90 minutes.
The Spanish will face in the next round (1/32 final) the winner of the match that will be played by Canadian Rebecca Marino, number 220 in the world, against American Madison Keys, number 26.
Garbie Muguruza, number 9 in the world, debuted directly in the second round against the Czech Katerina Siniakova (55 in the world), who on Monday beat the Austrian Jelena Ostapenko in two sets.
