The date of the Paralympic Games was confirmed; and, with it, the days in which the Peruvian representatives will participate. The start of the sporting event will be on Tuesday, August 24, two days after the state of alarm in Japan ends. Angélica Espinoza and Efraín Sotacuro are the standard bearers of our delegation in Tokyo 2020.

The competition will take place over twelve days, in which a total of 540 medal events will be held. It is known that 272 of these matches are for male athletes, 228 are for female athletes, and 40 are mixed competitions.

Who makes up the Peruvian delegation?

The Peruvian delegation has a total of eleven athletes. In the para athletics the representatives are Rosbil Guillen, Efraín Sotacuro, Melissa Baldera and Carlos Sangama; in for badminton, Pilar Jáuregui; for cycling, Israel Hilario; for judo, Freed Villalobos; for swimming, Rodrigo Santillán and Dunia Felices; for powerlifting, Niel García; and, in taekwondo, Angélica Espinoza.

When do the Peruvian representatives participate?

On the same day of the inauguration, Rodrigo Santillán will compete from 7 pm (Peruvian time) in the 100 meters backstroke; then, Dunia Felices will follow in the 200-meter freestyle. If they pass to the finals, they will compete again on Wednesday in the early hours of the day.

The next day, Wednesday, three for Peruvian athletes will give their best effort. Rosbi Guillen will run the 5000 meter dash from 5:30 pm At 8:30 pm Freed Villalobos will participate in para judo, category of up to 81 kilos. The participation with Niel Garcia in the para powerlifter in the division up to 59 kilos ends at 9:00 pm

The athlete Melissa Baldera will have three participations, on Thursday August 26 she will compete in the 400 meters; after that, in subsequent days he will run the 100 and 200 meters. With Melissa, the participation of Peruvians ends during the week until Monday 30 with the participation of Israel Hilario in para cycling.

On August 31 will be the time for Pilar Jáuregui for badminton and Wednesday, September 1 for Angélica Espinoza for taekwondo. On the last day of the games, September 5, Efraín Sotacuro and Carlos Sangama will participate.
