Images that have unfortunately been around the world. Sunday evening at the Allianz Riviera, the match between OGC Nice and Olympique de Marseille, stopped by the referee in the 75th minute after an invasion of the field in particular, has never resumed. Or at least the game resumed but with only one team on the pitch. Because after the bottle received on his back (which he sent back to the Nice public), Dimitri Payet, the Phocéens and the Niçois came to blows with some ultra Riviera in the middle.

Faced with the reigning insecurity, President Pablo Longoria decided that his team would not resume. Result, Mr. Bastien whistled the recovery, after more than 1h30 of interruption, with only eleven Nice on the lawn. OGC Nice then won this game 1-0, thanks to the goal of Kasper Dolberg, but the Disciplinary Commission of the Professional Football League obviously had to study all that. It was on Wednesday that it was held and the sanctions have just fallen.

Next game behind closed doors for Nice, OM’s physical trainer suspended

The disciplinary commission first placed the case under investigation, in view of the violence that occurred during the evening. In the meantime, two precautionary measures have been taken. The Allianz Riviera will be behind closed doors at the next Gym meeting, either against Bordeaux next Saturday, on behalf of the 4th day of Ligue 1. Marseille side, the physical trainer Pablo Fernandez, who struck a punch to a Nice supporter, is suspended from the sidelines but also from his functions.

The file is far from being finished because it will be investigated on Wednesday September 8 by the commission. It is on this date that we will know the other sanctions relating to the behavior of the Nice fans who entered the lawn, the behavior of the players during the confrontation, and the final fate of this meeting. Thus, the score of 1-0 is for the moment not counted by the LFP in the classification of the Ligue 1. Finally, the committee took advantage of this meeting to define the sanctions after the incidents which occurred during Montpellier- OM (1st day of L1).

As a reminder, Valentin Rongier was hit by a bottle throw from supporters of the MHSC. People had been arrested. The commission had decided to “Place the case under investigation and order a precautionary closure of the Corbières and Etang-de-Thau stands of the Mosson stadium for the duration of the investigation.” It finally sanctions the two faulty stands with three suspension matches, the first match having already taken place last weekend during the reception of Lorient.
