Mia Blichfeldt’s arches in her right foot are swollen and stiff, which is why she has been recommended by Team Denmark’s physiotherapist not to play badminton in the coming period. This means that she can not play RSL DM 2021, which begins today. Svangsenen also kept Blichfeldt out for much of the Olympic run-up.

Mia Blichfeldt struggled last year with heel spurs and soreness in her arches in her right foot. At that time, Denmark’s best women’s single got rid of the injury, but the pain and swelling of the tendon has returned, which makes the foot completely stiff. This means that Blichfeldt cannot start at RSL DM 2021. She has been advised against this by Team Danmark’s physiotherapist.

– I’m really sorry that I get on the field in Esbjerg. But I will have to listen to myself and my body after the period that I have been through up to the Olympics. I know that Badminton Denmark and Esbjerg have done a great job after so many jerks of the Danish Championships, and I am sorry that I can not play in front of the Danish fans. Now I just hope that through treatment and break I can get rid of it and get strong again, says Mia Blichfeldt.

Blichfeldt, who won the Danish Championships as the youngest ever back in 2014, when she was just 16 years old, will undergo treatments with Team Denmark’s physiotherapists through the next week and be scanned in her right foot. After this, the Danish Olympic debutant awaits a two-week holiday.

With the cancellation from Mia Blichfeldt, a draw will be made for the new seedings in the women’s singles series.

Seeds in the women’s singles series:
1: Julie Dawall Jakobsen
2: Line Christophersen
3: Line Kjærsfeldt
4: Amalie Schulz Terp-Nielsen

Sarah Frederikke Vishart, Solrød Strand, enters the main tournament from the reserve list.

Yesterday, Anders Antonsen, Rasmus Gemke and Mads Kolding / Frederik Søgaard also canceled the RSL DM 2021, just as Viktor Axelsen announced last week.
