NBA OFFICIAL – Russell Westbrook: “As a Lakers fan, I’ve come full circle”

After eleven straight seasons at the Thunder, Russell Westbrook became a traveler since 2019. He continued his career in Houston, before living the 2020/2021 season in Washington and is now in Los Angeles, with the Lakers, for next season. So at ESPN.

Son of LA. I’m from Los Angeles and have always hoped to be able to play at home. It’s something that has always happened in my head, I thought to myself that maybe one day… But then I would go back and tell myself it would never happen. It’s incredible. I will be able to be constantly with my children, my parents, my wife. What else? I think I haven’t realized yet. I grew up not far from here, I saw the champions’ shows, I tried to miss school to go and see them. As a native Los Angeles Lakers fan, I have now come full circle.

Kobe Bryant. He never left my memory. The things he and I talked about about being a Lakers player someday, what that meant. It’s crazy to think about it and it will always be present in me as soon as I wear the Lakers jersey.

Not just feelings, but also the title obsession with Westbrook and the Lakers management. Like this Rob Pelinka, Lakers general manager: “Westbrook’s arrival is an opportunity to be aggressive and make a decision that will increase our chances of winning this 18th title. We are obsessed with bringing an 18th trophy back to this city.”
