NBA News: Los Angeles Lakers bring back four alumni

The Los Angeles Lakers brought back a total of four alumni on the first day of the Free Agency. Further decisions are still pending.

After the trade, the Lakers do not have much financial headroom for Russell Westbrook, but had to replenish their roster. That happened on the first day of the Free Agency with four players, all of whom were probably hired for the veteran minimum with the champions of 2020.

Dwight Howard (35), Kent Bazemore (32), Trevor Ariza (36) and Wayne Ellington (33) also have one thing in common: All four have played for the Lakers at least once. Howard even won the championship with LeBron James’ team in 2020, and the center spent last season with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Another obligation was also discussed on Tuesday night: According to Marc Stein, the Lakers and the New York Knicks are said to have deposited their interest with Carmelo Anthony. The former superstar, who last played for the Portland Trail Blazers, has not yet made a decision.

Lakers: No new stand at Dennis Schröder

There have also been departures from the Lakers. With Alex Caruso, a crowd favorite left the Californians, the point guard will appear for the Chicago Bulls over the next four years and collect 37 million dollars there. Ben McLemore left the Lakers for Portland, he will probably sign a minimal contract there.

On the other hand, it was quiet around Dennis Schröder on Monday. The Braunschweiger is probably no longer planned for the Lakers after they have strengthened themselves with Westbrook. However, there are not too many other teams that still have cap space and needs in their position.

Talen Horton-Tucker, on the other hand, seems to want to hold onto the Lakers. As ESPN reported, Los Angeles has signaled that it wants to match every possible offer sheet for the restricted free agent.
