Rafael Nadal returns to the ATP circuit after two months of absence due to injuries and disconnection. He does it this Wednesday at the ATP 500 tournament in Washington, in which the Balearic will open his fast track season in North America. The ultimate goal is to hone his tennis and his ambition for the US Open, of which he has four titles, the last one in 2019.

Two months have passed since his last match, it was in the semi-final at Roland Garros, on June 11, that he lost against Novak Djokovic. The desire to disconnect and foot discomfort led him to stay home and not participate in either Wimbledon or the Olympics.

Nadal, who has won two titles this year (Barcelona and Rome), wants to get used to the fast surface as soon as possible because his last bite on hard was in February 2020, in Acapulco, winning the final against Taylor Fritz.

In Washington he will debut against Jack Sock and will have rivals like Sandgren, Nishikori, Kyrgios or Norrie on his side of the box. On the other side are Felix Auger-Aliassime, Alex de Miñaur, Reilly Opelka or Jannik Sinner.
