The 103rd National High School Baseball Championship began on the 10th at Koshien Stadium in Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture, and Miyagi representative Tohoku Gakuin players marched proudly.

Tatsuya Yamaguchi, an alumnus of the school’s baseball club, defeated No. 1 seed Sendai Ikuei in the fourth round of the 2014 Miyagi tournament in the third year. However, he missed the victory.
At that time, Kato, who was in the fifth grade of elementary school, watched his brother’s game on the Internet. Inspired by “Is it so cool to beat a strong team?”, He aimed for Koshien.
This summer’s Miyagi tournament participated in all games, leading pitchers such as Ito in the main battle. On the other hand, the first game ended without hits, and he worked hard with Tatsuya to practice independently and regained his tone. With a batting average of 30% and 4%, he got a Koshien ticket that his brother didn’t reach.
The school entered Osaka on the 5th and made final adjustments in Sakai City on the 10th. “I was nervous at first, but everyone got used to it,” Kato said. Tatsuya will also rush to cheer for the first match. “The opponent is strong, but I think it’s okay if I can play each role. I want to show how I enjoy playing as usual.”
