Memphis Depay made allegations against ex-coach Jose Mourinho in an interview. The current Roma coach and Depay once worked together at Manchester United. Across from the Catalan newspaper The newspaper FC Barcelona’s newcomer complained that Louis van Gaal’s successor at the English record champions had deliberately not used him.
“I think he never intended to give me a chance,” speculated Depay, implying that Mourinho had not judged him fairly.

The months in the English Premier League had been a difficult experience for him, because nothing had changed after a visit to Mourinho’s office. “I had the feeling that I was training well, but even the players didn’t understand,” said the Dutch international: “[Paul] Pogba and Zlatan [Ibrahimovic] asked me why I never played. “
For him, that was confirmation that he had no prospects under Mourinho. “I realized that I didn’t want to be at a big club without playing,” recalls Depay.
At the beginning of 2017 he dared to make a fresh start in the French Ligue 1 at Olympique Lyon: “That was the best decision I could have made.”
At OL, the dribbling attacker found his old strength and moved to Barca for free this summer.
