EL NUEVO DIARIO, SANTO DOMINGO.-The tenth version of the Superior Basketball Tournament of the municipality of Los Alcarrizos started this Thursday, with the participation of seven franchises. The opening ceremony, which was led by Gloria Reyes, president of the organizing committee and the general manager of the Banco de Reservas, Samuel Pereyra, was held at the Multipurpose Hall at the entrance to Los Alcarrizos.
This version of the event, which has been sponsored by the Reserve Bank, is dedicated to the engineer Adolfo Pérez, director of Promese-cal, which started with a double card of games. In the first hour the teams EBA vs Pantoja faced each other and in the second hour the reigning champions CUP vs the runners-up of Hope.
When delivering the keynote speech of the opening ceremony, Gloria Reyes, the first woman to chair the organizing committee, said that with this tournament Los Alcarrizos demonstrates resistance and the characteristic values of the municipality through basketball.
“Today, on the field, the agility, discipline and determination that distinguish this sector are exhibited; For years I have seen how each of the families that live here go out to give everything they have to live better. I have also accompanied them in their aspirations, goals and search for new opportunities ”, said the general director of Supérate.
In his speech, Samuel Pereyra, administrator of Banreservas, said that the resurgence of this type of event is possible thanks to the success of the Vacúnate RD session against covid-19. “Returning to the field is a sample of how effective the vaccination plan implemented by the Government has been,” he said.
In thanking the dedication of this new version of the sporting event, Adolfo Pérez said he was very excited about this distinction and reiterated his commitment to the youth of the municipality of Los Alcarrizos, to help them in their development and improvement of their environment.
On his side, the executive director of the organizing committee Luis Alberto Caraballo, said that everything is ready for the start of the sports fair. He added that the participating teams are the union and progress club CUP, La esperanza, Pantoja, Los Intocables, Los Americanos, the EBA, as well as the newcomers: Los Astros de Savica.
The days of the game will be on Wednesdays and Fridays with double billboards, starting at 7 at night and on Sundays from 11 in the morning.
Reyes, in her capacity as president of the event, assured that the health protocol that covid-19 entails will be applied in the tournaments, as well as an effective security program for those attending the event.
