Liga-Cvc agreement, but Real Madrid and Barcelona remain out

“LaLiga Impulso”, the project that provides for the entry of the investment fund Cvc arrived at the assembly of clubs of the top Spanish football league with a last-minute change: the CVC fund will not negotiate in its 10% the rights of the clubs that voted against the agreement.

As reported by Brand, this means, for example, that Real Madrid e Barcelona they will not collect any of the 2.7 billion euros offered under the understanding, but the agreement will have no influence on their rights or revenues, now or in the future.

With this provision, both La Liga and CVC tried to dispel the doubts of the two clubs that had opposed the operation. Of the 2.7 billion that the fund will inject into the coffers of the clubs, i 300 million that would correspond to Real or Barcelona would remain intact for three years.

This is in the event that at some point the two companies want to join the agreement. But for the remainder of the deal, CVC could negotiate 10% of the turnover without including anything from both teams (nor from all those who vote against).

Real Madrid and Barcelona, in this way, will not be affected by the project. If not indirectly, because the structural enrichment of the rest of the clubs they will receive fresh resources will improve the Liga as a whole, it will increase its value and even the clubs that do not join could benefit from an increase in the value of television rights.

The CVC fund would have preferred this option to simplify the launch of “LaLiga Impulso” and stop the grievances that Real Madrid or Barcelona would have wanted to present in the bud.
