Angelique Kerber has reached the semifinals at the WTA tournament in Cincinnati. The world’s number one is now waiting there.

Angelique Kerber has moved into the semifinals after losing out at the tennis tournament in Cincinnati. The 33-year-old led on Friday in a duel between two former Wimbledon winners 6: 4, 3: 3 against Petra Kvitova, when the ailing Czech could no longer play.
In the semifinals on this Saturday there is a revenge against the world number one Ashleigh Barty from Australia for the lost semifinals of Wimbledon. Barty previously won 6: 2, 6: 4 against French Open winner Barbora Krejcikova from the Czech Republic. At Wimbledon in July, she had prevailed on the way to the title against Kerber, who was in Cincinnati twice in the final.
In a total of 16th comparison of two left-handers against Kvitova, Kerber managed the first break of the game to 5: 4 in the first set. Although she missed a set ball with a double fault, Kvitova helped, as before, with a few minor mistakes. At the parallel men’s Masters tournament, Alexander Zverev will meet Casper Ruud from Norway in the quarter-finals on Saturday night.
