The defeat in Leitza of the amezketarra and Aranguren grants the direct classification to the semifinals to Olaizola II and Zabaleta

Erik Jaka was a judge yesterday in Leitza. The fate of the second direct place for the CaixaBank Masters semifinals depended on the result of the match that Lizartza and Tolosa, bottoms and eliminated since the previous day, played against Altuna III and Aranguren, who were the ones who had the most ingredients in the pot.

The victory does not help them to abandon the last position of the classification, but it affects the positions of others. Altuna III and Aranguren, in search of the victory that would put them directly into the semifinals along with Peña II and Rezusta, fell to third place and to the play-offs. Instead, Olaizola II and Zabaleta find the highest possible reward and avoid those treacherous playoffs.

The play-off crosses, to be resolved next weekend, are as follows: Altuna III-Aranguren (3rd) against Urrutikoetxea-Martija (6th) and Peio Etxeberria-Albisu (4th) against Elezkano II-Mariezkurrena II ( 5th). It remains to be defined where each one will go. The winners will accompany Peña II-Rezusta and Olaizola II-Zabaleta in the semifinals on September 11 and 12.

Jaka, author of a brilliant start, and Tolosa commanded from the opening bars. Altuna had a hard time getting started. Even the rival striker, who surpassed him in determination in that start, attacked him against the game in the buzzing game that the Amezketarra was looking for. The current Manomanista champion improved with the passing of the minutes to give a performance more in line with his category. However, he lacked sufficient help behind his back. Aranguren weakened a lot. He delivered the ball, did not enjoy the right hand, just created shot opportunities for the teammate and missed the ball.

Altuna kept alive the match to approach first three goals, 12-15, and then one, 16-17. He gave reasons to believe in a comeback that Jaka and Tolosa were in charge of leaving in attempt.

The first consequence of the Leitza crash is the loss of Jokin Altuna in the other people’s commitment to the Masters that had been scheduled for him tonight at Los Arcos (ETB1, 10pm). He suffered from the left foot, touched from hand to hand against Laso.

Elgeta’s process was not without tension, especially in the amount played when Peña II and Rezusta were 20-21 ahead of Laso, a replacement for the injured Peio Etxeberria, and Albisu. The judges gave both in the first instance Jon Ander Peña’s hook, which meant winning the game 20-22 and maintaining the unbeaten record. A small, noisy group of onlookers protested loudly. The front judge consulted with the one behind and they changed the decision: foul. That is, 21 equals. The last goal fell again from the Colorado side to consummate the comeback, as Laso and Albisu lost 10-16, 11-19 and 17-21. A healthy pique between Laso and Peña accompanied from the beginning a showy match against 163 balls. The defenders worked well and the forwards finished. But those judges don’t convey confidence.
