“It’s good lir!” – BadmintonBladet

“I have seen Axelsen’s final for the 3rd time.

We are very far up on the list of greatest Danish sporting achievements ever.

As a stand-alone match, it is incredible.

The level is one or two steps above world class. The whole fight.

The score from 7-9 to 11-9 in the 1st set is the first real sign of what awaits Chen Long. Chen Long plays the final as Chen Long now plays, what should he do?

The shaft hits the lines – or an inch inside – constantly. Steep, hard, cut and then that relaxed cut from own backhand corner.

Long has no answer to that blow, never gets it.

Have we ever seen a men’s singles player have so many killer weapons in his arsenal?

Viktor’s defensive is completely without cracks, he is faster and more confident than ever before.

After the grueling duels, which are actually many of in the fight, Viktor luckily looks cold. Poker face. No cracks here, nothing to catch up on in any facets of the game.

At 17-10 in the 2nd set, Chen Long laughs. He knows it well, he is up against something very special, and I get the idea that he may have experienced it before.

So this about facing an opponent who is one or maybe two levels above world class. Maybe back then another Chinese who also exceeded the predicate ‘world class’ was the king of badminton?

I highly recommend revisiting the finale, blow by blow. Note when Chen Long looks at the coach a few times and makes a ‘well, I can not do anything about that grimace’.

That’s good luck! ”
