The team of Italian athletes at the Tokyo 2021 Olympics broke all records and obtained the tenth place in the medal table: let’s find out exactly how many medals Italy has won and in which sports.

Italy at the Tokyo Olympics: how many medals?

A record Olympics, that of Tokyo 2021, for Italy that has conquered well 40 medals:

  • Ten gold medals
  • Ten silver medals
  • Twenty bronze medals

An unexpected record, considering that the maximum number of medals won by Italy was thirtysix, but it had been established in Los Angeles in 1932 and matched only in Rome in 1960.

Another record is the number of disciplines in which at least one medal has been won: 19 in all. The last record in this regard was 17 medals, during the Athens Olympics.
