Indonesian badmintonists break Chinese dominance in doubles

In the Indonesian final, the Chinese Qincheng Chen and Jifuan Jia defeated 2-0 (21:19, 21:15).

Badminton made its Olympic debut in 1992, and since then, only two athletes have won the women’s doubles in the Chinese doubles.

The 33-year-old Poli was nearing the end of his career after the Rio Olympics, but later joined forces with Rahai, who was ten years younger.

In the fight for bronze, two South Korean duos met, Soyonga Kima and Hijonga Konga, beating Sungchan Shin and Sohi Li 2-0 (21:10, 21:17).

The winner of the men’s singles tournament will be announced in the evening session.
