Indonesia out of the Top 40

Indonesia’s position in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic medal standings is getting lower. Indonesia is out of the top 40, to be precise in 43rd position.

As of Wednesday (4/8/2021) evening WIB, China topped the Tokyo 2020 Olympic medal standings with 32 gold, 22 silver and 16 bronze. China added two gold medals compared to the previous day.

The United States followed in second with 25 gold, 31 silver and 23 bronze. Japan is in third place with 21 gold, seven silver and 12 bronze.

Great Britain moved Australia from fourth place in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics medal standings with 15 gold, 18 silver and 15 bronze. Great Britain got an additional two gold medals today.

Australia, which dropped to fifth place, collected 15 gold, four silver, and 17 bronze. The ROC is in sixth place with 14 gold, 21 silver, and 18 bronze.

Meanwhile, Indonesia, which no longer has a representative at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, dropped to 43rd position out of 79 countries that have won medals. The Red and White Contingent collected one gold, one silver and three bronze.

This position is outside the target set at the beginning of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which is the top 40. At the 2016 Rio Olympics, Indonesia finished 46th.

However, Indonesia is still the best among ASEAN countries. The Philippines is ranked 48th with one gold and one silver. Thailand is in 57th place with one gold, while Malaysia is in 70th position with one bronze.
