Executive President Su Zhenchang said, In 1994, through amendments to the constitutional provisions, the “Shanbao” was renamed the “Indigenous People”. He was honored to stand with the indigenous people at a critical moment in history and complete his self-identification initiative.

Su Zhenchang said that the aboriginal people were the earliest owners of Taiwan’s land. In the past, even the most basic names and languages ​​were forbidden. At that time, he supported the aboriginal people’s demands for rectification, and President Tsai Ing-wen promoted a five-fold increase in the funds for the revitalization of indigenous languages, and set up a special agency for ethnic language research and promotion.

Su Zhenchang mentioned that he is an “indigenous relative”, his son-in-law is a young Ami, and his two granddaughters are named after an aboriginal language. On Taiwan Indigenous Peoples Day, he will pay special tribute to the aboriginal friends. The government will continue to highlight the original democratic nature through laws, policies, and budgets, allowing generations of people to coexist and prosper, and work together for the country and the land.

The Aboriginal Association held the “81 Indigenous Peoples Day: The 27th Anniversary of the Rectification of Indigenous Peoples” event.
