India scores 3 times as Reds beat Phillies

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Jonathan India homered and scored three times to lead the Cincinnati Reds to a 7-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday.

India, a leading candidate for NL Rookie of the Year, pitched Aaron Nola’s third pitch behind the left-center field fence for his 15th home run of the season. He also singled and scored on Shogo Akiyama’s two-run double in the third inning and hit and rang again when Tyler Naquin walked with a bases loaded in the fifth inning.

Tyler Stephenson added a two-run homer for Cincinnati, which took two of three series games. Stephenson’s pinch hit capped a three-touchdown offense by the Reds in the eighth inning.

Bryce Harper produced two runs and walked three for Philadelphia, which fell for the fourth time in six games. Venezuelan Odúbel Herrera had three hits.

The Phillies fell to second place in the NL East, one game behind the Atlanta Braves.

Lucas Sims (5-2) pitched 1 1/3 inning to score the win, while Mychal Givens retired four foes for his third save.

Nola (7-7) allowed four runs and six hits in 4 1/3 innings. He struck out four and walked three.

For the Reds, the Dominican Aristides Aquino 2-0.

For the Phillies, Venezuelans Herrera 4-3; Ronald Torreyes 4-1 with a scored. The Dominican Jean Segura 5-1 with a scored.
