In September, a return to doubt for sports clubs in Douarnenez – Douarnenez

“For this comeback, we are really in the expectation.” The words of Didier Porsmoguer, president of the football section of the Stella Maris, summarize the state of mind of several sports clubs in Douarnen, while the health pass will be mandatory for licensees of sports clubs from September 30. In this month of August, some have already resumed like the Stella Maris, others are on a summer break, like Judo club Douarneniste, but all have their eyes riveted on September and especially October.

So far, the clubs that have resumed haven’t seen much change. “It is the coach who takes care of checking the passes, so he is a bit confused since it reduces training time”, explains Amandine Coignard, president of the Basket Club Douarnenez Tréboul. From the side des Gâs d’Ys and from Stella Maris, a nurse comes to carry out tests before training. A temporary solution, because from October the screening tests will be paying, but which “allows all those who want to play to come to training”, as Didier Porsmoguer explains.

At the Douarnenez Rugby Athletic Club, “We have decided to postpone the resumption of seniors by two weeks, in order to give everyone plenty of time to organize themselves. Our schedule is less immediate than for football, for example. We hope to have everyone at the end of September, I haven’t heard any negative reactions from the players so far, ”explains Jean-Michel Le Hir, club president.

A “real return to school in October”

David Formose, teacher of Douarnenist Judo Club meanwhile expects “a small return to school in September and a real return later in October”. Indeed, the health pass will not be compulsory for over 12s until September 30. It is especially on this date that the clubs expect a drop in membership. “Until the end of September, the kid whose parents are against the vaccine or the health pass will still be able to come. After this date, what will be the state of our workforce, we do not really know ”, continues the president of Stella Maris.

We must add to this that last season was more than reduced because of the various confinements. “We had a quarter of the season last year”, recalls Guillaume Doaré, president of Gâs d’Ys, “suddenly we offered a license at a reduced price for those who were made redundant last year”. In any case, the various clubs already fear a drop in the number of licensees over the 2021-2022 season.
