Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu, gold medal winners at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

INDOSPORT.COM – Badminton Greysia Polii is not retiring anytime soon. PBSI Pelatnas women’s doubles coach, Eng Hian, mentioned one mission that had not been accomplished.

As is known, the pair Greysia Polii / Apriyani Rahayu has just won the Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medal, the highest achievement for an athlete.

Greysia managed to get the gold medal, after a long struggle and now she is 34 years old. In fact, Greysia Polii is currently married too.

Not many female badminton athletes are still actively playing over the age of 30, some of their predecessors have even hung up their rackets when they decided to get married.

However, the Indonesian women’s doubles coach, Eng Hian, dismissed the news that Greysia Polii would retire. That said, the Apriyani Rahayu couple will continue to play until the end of the year.

“For sure, Sudirman Cup and Uber Cup, he (Greysia Polii) will still play,” said Eng Hian while attending the awarding ceremony from PB Djarum, Thursday (19/08/21) afternoon.

“It’s also possible that he will still play until the end of the year, because there is still one wish for Greysia at the World Championships.”

“Hopefully given the opportunity and there are no obstacles, injuries or anything. Hopefully it can still be realized for achievements in the world championships,” he continued.
