“Very happy” to start this new stage, Delgado is convinced that “this project will allow me to grow as a player” with the aim of “being able to make a name for myself in this category.” The intention, at a collective level, is to work “with great enthusiasm to achieve our goals.” Forged at the base of SL Benfica, he competed from 2017 to 2020 in the first Portuguese category with this same team, also participating in the Basketball Champions League. Step before making the jump to Spain and landing in Madrid, where he scored 9.2 points per game, capturing 12.3 rebounds and a rating of 12.3.

In addition to Gonçalo Delgado, Bàsquet Girona has also announced the additions of Mads Bonde Stürup, Èric Vila, Jaume Sorolla, Josep Franch, Karamo Jarawa, Pol Molins and Kaspars Vecvagars.
