Former NHL player Hayes was found dead at home at the age of 31

Former hockey player Jimmy Hayes, who played seven seasons in the NHL, died at the age of 31. According to overseas media, he was found dead in his home in Milton, Massachusetts. He left behind a wife and two small sons.

Hayes joined the NHL from 2011 to 2018 for Chicago, Florida, Boston and New Jersey. He scored 54 goals and 55 assists in 334 matches. He last played hockey in the 2018/19 season in the AHL lower league. His brother Kevin, who plays for Philadelphia, is active in the elite overseas competition.

As a teenager, Hayes represented the United States and won a silver medal at the Under-18 World Championships in 2007.
