AC Milan started its season on Monday with a narrow victory on the lawn of Sampodria (1-0), with a combative Olivier Giroud in the lead, failing to have scored.

The Rossoneri, diligent and voluntary, quickly opened the scoring by Brahim Diaz (9th), served by Davide Calabria. In the absence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, away from a field until at least mid-September, Olivier Giroud struggled for 90 minutes at the top but failed to score another goal that would have put the Milanese in the shelter.

And it took all the vigilance of the other French recruit of the Milan summer, goalkeeper Mike Maignan, to preserve the three points. The former Lille, responsible for making forget Gianluigi Donnarumma, was perfect on his line as in his outings, facing a Sampdoria who finished much stronger to try to get the equalizer.

West Ham and Antonio are a hit

By clearly beating Leicester (4-1), reduced to ten before the break, West Ham won their second match in two days and took the lead in the Premier League. Already winner in Newcastle (4-2) for the first lift, West Ham has the same goal difference as Liverpool and Chelsea (+5), but with eight goals scored, against five for the Reds and the Blues. The Londoners also overtake Brighton and Tottenham, authors like them of a perfect start.

Things got worse for Brendan Rodgers’ men with a ball recovered in the middle of the field by Declan Rice and a backlash launched and concluded by Pablo Fornals (1-0, 26th). Shortly before half-time, Ayoze Perez, author of a nasty gesture on an opponent while he was out of balance, was expelled by the referee after resorting to the VAR (40th).

Shortly after the break, Saïd Benrahma gave an advantage which seemed decisive to the Hammers (2-0, 56th), before the former Monegasque Youri Tielemans gave hope to Leicester (2-1, 69th). Unfortunately for the Foxes, center forward Michail Antonio then added to the bill by scoring a double in the last ten minutes (3-1, 80th then 4-1, 84th). He thus became the top scorer of the London club in the era of the Premier League, ahead of the Italian Paolo Di Canio, with 49 goals, while sealing a victory of the most logical for the Hammers.
