Bayern fans dream of a sensational comeback. Franck Ribery and Jerome Boateng trained with the German series champions on Saturday.
The two former Bayern soccer players, both of whom are without a club, completed a training session on Saturday at the club’s premises on Säbener Straße. Bayern’s fitness coach Holger Broich took care of the duo and trained with the former Munich kickers.
The pay-TV broadcaster “Sky” had shown the training pictures on TV so that hopes of a Ribery return came closer. The now 38-year-old had left the German series champions in summer 2019 and had been active for Fiorentina for the last two years. Boateng’s contract with Munich only expired at the end of the season.
Bayern comeback unlikely
However, there will be no Bayern return. The two players train together in order to be able to immediately join a corresponding offer from a club. Most recently, the players had already completed exercises together in Ribery’s Munich garden.
In any case, the end of a career is not yet an issue for Ribery. “I can still give a lot on the pitch. But now I have to wait,” said the winger on the sidelines of a Bayern legend game on Wednesday.
