Failed substitution ruins the final women’s relay 4×100 meters | Sport

Schippers probably started too early, so Visser was unable to hand over the baton to the two-time world champion in the 200 meters. The race was thus over for the Orange quartet.

The Netherlands narrowly qualified for the final battle in the series. The substitution between Visser and Schippers did not go very smoothly, so that the team crossed the line in fifth. However, the time was good enough to reach the final as the eighth team.

Jamaica, with the sprint guns Elaine Thompson-Herah and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, sprinted to the gold in 41.02. The United States won silver, Great Britain bronze.
