Latvian beach volleyball duo Tīna Graudiņa / Anastasija Kravčenoka, whose participation in the Tokyo Olympic Games finished in the fourth place, will meet with German athletes Shantal Laburer / Sinja Tilman in the European Beach Volleyball Championship in the quarterfinals of the match on Friday. Our girls in Vienna could definitely feel almost at home, because the fans chanted “Latvija” very loudly. At the beginning of the match, the Germans were more convincing, our girls had problems receiving services. From time to time, Graudiņa / Kravčenoka was able to reduce the difference in the result to a minimum, but not equalize or advance in the lead. The conclusion of the first set was logical – with 13:21 the recognition of the superiority of the opponents.
In the second set, the Latvian duo took the lead, but the vaults immediately reached the level.
In the eighth final, Graudiņa / Kravčenoka defeated the Czech duo Barbora Hermannova / Maria Sarah Stochlov 2-0 (21:17, 21:18).
In the group tournament in group D, our girls became the leaders, beating Lezan Plasetta / Alexei Richards from France 2-0 (21:17, 21:17), as well as Poland over King Vojtasik / Catherine Kocjolek by 2-0 (21:18, 21:16).
The two strongest men’s beach volleyball duos in Latvia – Olympians Mārtiņš Pļaviņš / Edgars Točs and Aleksandrs Samoilovs / Jānis Šmēdiņš – have also qualified for the playoffs in the European Championship.
European beach volleyball champions will be determined on Sunday.
