Her teammate Marie-Florence Boudreault says she has followed the Canadians’ game against the Swedes with attention. Usually I don’t really watch the Olympics. But this morning I was really motivated to watch the game. I found it motivating to see that Canada could win medals against other countries!
A historic moment

Coaticook footballer Josée Bélanger, who won a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Rio, was delighted for the Canadian team.
For having been part of the program, we know all the investment behind it. The success they are experiencing right now, behind there are several hours of training and preparation. It is a historic moment that will remain outstanding for several years. We obviously hope that this will allow Canadian soccer to continue to progress.
She says she has great respect for Christine Sinclair, the team captain.
Sinclair is one of the players who has been successful in advancing the Canadian program. Through her talent and leadership, she took the team to another level.
There is the whole team behind, but it was still our image here in Canada, our striker who scored goals, who reached records at this level.

She now wants this victory to allow the sport to develop in the country.
We hope that by showing results like that, where I would see the most progress would be in the confidence of investors to invest in women’s soccer here. It must be remembered that a Canadian female soccer player, to continue her sport and her progress, must go into exile in the United States or in Europe.
