Entering Celtics history pays off for Robert Williams; Brad Stevens satisfied

A few days later Marcus Smart, Robert Williams III (23, 2.03m) also extended to the Celtics. Coach of the team for 8 years and now president of the team’s basketball operations, Brad Stevens reacted to the news after it was made official:

“Rob has worked hard to be a big impact player and his talent and selflessness means he has what it takes to reach an even higher level in the future. From day one he got involved as a Celtic. He is a great teammate, totally determined to improve. We are delighted that he continues to do so here in Boston. »Brad Stevens

Williams’ contract, 27th pick in the 2018 draft, is 4 years and $ 54 million. Since joining the league, his scoring, rebounding and passing averages have improved every year. In 2020-21, he shot 8 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game in 18.9 minutes on average and 52 games played, including 13 as a starter.

On April 2, he became the first Celtic in history to compile at least 20 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists while shooting 100% (20 points at 9/9). In the playoffs, he also became the first Celtic in history to record a 9-block match in a playoff match.
