Dynamo Dresden and 1860 Munich celebrate in the DFB Cup

Dynamo Dresden has reached the second round in the DFB Cup. The second division football club prevailed on Friday evening against league rivals SC Paderborn with 2: 1 (0: 0). Tim Knipping (54th) and Julius Kade (88th) scored the goals for the home side in front of 12,702 spectators in the Rudolf Harbig Stadium. Sven Michel (61.) met to equalize in the meantime.

Both teams invested a lot right from the start. The opposing build-up game was attacked early on, which repeatedly led to mistakes or ultimately haphazard attempts at liberation. Scoring chances remained a rarity in the first half, but Dresden had the better ones. In the 35th minute, defender Michael Sollbauer failed with a head after a corner to Paderborn goalkeeper Jannik Huth. Just a few seconds later, Michael Akoto pulled just past the goal from 15 meters.

After the restart, the game clearly picked up speed. First, Knipping headed the home side after a corner kick, only seven minutes later Michel equalized after a shot from the post by Kai Pröger. Dynamo then had several opportunities to take the lead again. But neither Ransford Königsdörffer (63rd) nor Morris Schröter and Brandon Borrello (both 64th) were able to put the ball in the goal. Afterwards, both teams slowly lost their strength. Ultimately, however, Dresden had the happier end because the substitute Panagiotis Vlachodimos lifted Kade, who scored the celebrated victory.

1860 wins on penalties

In a thrilling cup fight, TSV 1860 Munich wrestled the corona-plagued second division club SV Darmstadt 98 on penalties. The courageously playing third division club cheered after a 1: 1 (1: 1, 0: 0) after extra time a 5: 4 in the decision of the point. Match winners for the “Lions” were goalkeeper Marco Hiller, who defended the first penalty from Patric Pfeiffer, and Stephan Salger, who converted the last penalty, in front of 4158 spectators in the Grünwalder Stadium. In the regular season, Philipp Steinhart (75th) had taken the lead in 1860, while the strong Luca Pfeiffer equalized for the guests (80th).

Without much fumbling, the game picked up speed. Stefan Lex had the biggest “lion” chance of the first half in the sixth minute. The attacker failed after a fine interaction with captain Sascha Mölders on goalkeeper Marcel Schuhe, whom he wanted to lop over. The guests then found their way into the game. Hiller, who returned to the 1860 goal after being suspended, parried a Matthias Bader header with a reflex (17th). The later goalscorer Pfeiffer shot from 20 meters to the lower edge of the crossbar (22nd).
