15 Bundesliga teams are in the second round of the cup – two prominent clubs meet: record cup winners Bayern Munich have to go to Mönchengladbach. BVB, on the other hand, hit a lot easier.

The football fans are looking forward to the cup cracker between the eternal Bundesliga rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayern Munich, defending champion Borussia Dortmund caught a lucky ticket for the second round of the DFB Cup with their home game against second division club FC Ingolstadt. This was the result of the draw on Sunday evening in the ARD “Sportschau”. Olympic canoeing champion Ronald Rauhe also brought runner-up and cup finalist RB Leipzig to an east duel at the regional league club SV Babelsberg 03. The games of the second round will take place on October 26th and 27th.

In the season opener game of the league, Gladbach and Bayern parted 1: 1 on August 13. But the other three Bundesliga duels also promise excitement: newly promoted VfL Bochum welcomes FC Augsburg, Mainz 05 awaits Arminia Bielefeld and VfB Stuttgart 1. FC Köln. Bundesliga relegated Schalke 04 must go to third division club 1860 Munich, second division leader Jahn Regensburg receives promoted FC Hansa Rostock.

DFB-Pokal: League leaders Wolfsburg no longer there due to substitution errors

Fourth division club SC Preußen Münster expects Bundesliga bottom light Hertha BSC. Münster continued despite the 3-1 first round defeat against VfL Wolfsburg. The game was subsequently rated for the regional league team because VfL head coach Mark van Bommel substituted six instead of the allowed five players in the game on August 8th. The appeal of the Champions League starter at the DFB Federal Court was unsuccessful.

Of 18 Bundesliga clubs, 15 made it to the second round – only VfL Wolfsburg, promoted Greuther Fürth (at fourth division Babelsberg) and Eintracht Frankfurt (at third division club SV Waldhof Mannheim) were eliminated. “This is an absolutely sensational opponent,” said Babelsberg’s trainer Jörg Buder in the “Sportschau” about the duel between the outsider and the runner-up from Leipzig. “This is a hammer lot that we and the fans are looking forward to.”
