DFB: This is how national coach Hansi Flick’s first national team training went! – Soccer

Hansi Flick (56) started the new beginning with the national team at 3:32 p.m.!

After 15 years with world champion coach Jogi Löw (61), the new national coach started his first training session on Monday afternoon in Stuttgart. 28 minutes before the official start, the ex-Bayern coach stepped onto the lawn in the ADM sports park at the Stuttgarter Kickers.

Flick immediately grabbed a cord drum with marking tape and set up exercise forms himself. He trudged through the puddles at the edge of the square, smirked at the crap weather.

At 3:58 p.m. a warm hug with national team manager Oliver Bierhoff (53). At 4 p.m. sharp, a whistle from the new DFB boss, followed by a short address in the team circle.

The start of his first three international matches: World Cup qualification against Liechtenstein (September 2 in St. Gallen, 8.45 p.m. / RTL live), Armenia (September 5 in Stuttgart) and Iceland (September 8 in Reykjavik). For the national team it is the restart after the messed up EM in the summer – with the goal: World Cup in Qatar in 2022. Manuel Neuer (35): “I would like to be world champion with this team if possible.”

In 2014, Flick had won the world title as assistant coach from Löw. Last seven titles in 18 months with FC Bayern. Now the start as a national coach!

The first session as head coach lasted 71 minutes. Striking: Flick relied on communication, first spoke to Leroy Sané (25 / last whistled in Munich by Bayern fans) – the Bayern star was beaming.

Then an unusual communication campaign: after seven minutes, the boss let his assistant coach warm up. Instead, he gave a relaxed three-minute interview on DFB-TV on the sidelines. That shows: Flick trusts his coaching team totally.

In addition to communication, Flick focused on fun (catching balls to warm up), intensity (leader Kimmich shouted a lot), speed (positional play in a tight space) and balls in depth (fast switching play).

There was a lot of applause from the new head coach. But Flick was not always satisfied, so he also called: “Come on, men, this is better!”

Flick had six of his eight Bayern stars with him. Niklas Süle (25) took a break. Manuel Neuer (most recently a capsule injury in the right ankle). But the keeper says: “I assume that I will be able to play the three games. But we haven’t talked about when I’ll play yet.

Ten players weren’t on the pitch on Monday afternoon, instead they trained to regenerate in the weight room of the DFB district “Waldhotel”. Including the stars who were still in action in the Bundesliga on Sunday: Gladbach’s Florian Neuhaus (24) and Jonas Hoffmann (29), Wolfsburg rocket Ridle Baku (23) and Leipzig defender Lukas Klostermann (25).

Nico Schlotterbeck (21 / Freiburg), Antonio Rüdiger (28 / Chelsea), Robin Gosens (27 / Bergamo) and Thilo Kehrer (24 / PSG) were also missing. The Paris star was the last of the 26 players to join the DFB team at 11 a.m. on Monday. The right-back had played with the Messi club against Reims (2-0) on Sunday evening – his fourth game of the season over 90 minutes.

By the way: after 45 minutes the new standard guru Mads Buttgereit (36) grabbed six stars!

A quarter of an hour free kick training with returnees Marco Reus (32), Serge Gnabry (26), Joshua Kimmich (26), Leon Goretzka (26), Ilkay Gündogan (30) and Thomas Müller (31). With the iPad in hand, Buttgereit corrected the foot postures and shooting technique several times using the live data.

At 5:11 p.m. Flick and Bierhoff left the pitch in the pouring rain. Only Müller and Kimmich remained on the pitch with keeper Bernd Leno (29 / Arsenal) and continued to shoot free kicks. The two Bayern stars will be two of the most important leading players at Flick and form the midfield axis!
